How thoughtful lighting design brings together beautiful food in relaxed, ambient surroundings for Dublin’s leading Asian fine-dining destination.
EatZen Malahide offers diners a refined experience, from elegant fine-dining menus to opulent VIP private dining room, where soft lighting creates privacy within a circular glass space. Antumbra Lighting, are an independent lighting design consultancy specialising in bespoke, high-end solutions, were appointed to craft an atmosphere that felt intimate, seamless and architecturally sympathetic.
Light that feels effortless
Damien McKay, Partner at Antumbra Lighting, described the central challenge:
“We wanted the light to feel natural and effortless, drawing attention to the space rather than to the fixtures themselves”.
Working closely with Antumbra, LightGraphix supplied uplights and downlights throughout the project. The LD10238 and LD43DRG were used to illuminate the entrance and exposed timber vertical beams. Their compact form and precise optics helped deliver a clean architectural finish, providing reliability and durability to the project.
Damien added:

More than product solutions
Alongside supplying the luminaires, LightGraphix supported the design with detailed photometric data, mock-up examples and installation guidance, providing technical expertise to ensure seamless integration with the control system.
The result is a layered, atmospheric lighting design that complements EatZen’s contemporary interior. Damien highlighted the impact:
“The restaurant is also receiving excellent reviews from customers, not only for the bespoke interiors developed by Millimetre Design but many of whom specifically mention the lighting as a unique feature”.
